SOUTH AFRICAN PROTEA TEAM TRIUMPHANT AT F.I.P.S ed WORLD CARP FISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN FRANCE THANKS TO THE TACKLE BOX AND MING. The 11th F.I.P.S ed World Carp Fishing Championship was recently held at Lac de L’Uby near Barbaton in the South of France. From the onset the South African Protea Team were given a 100/1 chance to win the event, effectively giving us NO chance whatsoever to succeed. Some anglers said: “You are the South African Champions, not the European champions. You will NEVER win here.” They never knew that these famous words would come back to haunt them less than 80 hours later. I made contact with Lee Jackson in February 2009 and asked him for some advice on fishing in the South of France in general as no one knew this venue at Lac de L’Uby near Barbaton. His answer was straight forward that we should consider the famous Tackle Box Ming again (we used it extensively in Serbia a few years ago and got 2 x 4th places out of 3 zones). There was NO hesitation as I know how much trust Lee has in his bait and the results I had here in South Africa on it. I also used it in 2002 at the Raduta World Carp Cup and caught commons of 42lb 5oz and 24lb as well as a Grass Carp of 22lb on it. We ordered around 90kg of 18mm Ming boilies, 30kg Ming Pellets in two sizes (4mm & 8mm), Ming pop‐ups and around 20 bottles of Ming oil. After the shipment arrived here in South Africa we set out and made 40mm bait balls, consisting of mainly pre‐cooked minced tigers, minced cooked Hemp seed, chopped Ming boilies, cooked minced maize, Ming pellets and coated with Ming oil. These bait balls were air dried for 3 months and then packed in cardboard boxes. Hennie, Andries and G.P went to France in September for a practice session on the lake to work out our game plan. They made some discoveries during that period, one of them being that the fish at Uby mainly reacted to Tigers as the Cray’s and Poison Chats are way too aggressive with the boilies, but pre‐baiting with them was essential. Back in SA we all got together and built our plan around the Ming, but with added Tigers and Hemp. As we are the only country in the World that has to always ship our equipment around, make use of rented vehicles etc, which costs an arm and a leg, we arranged our ATA Carnet. Our equipment was shipped to Paris two weeks before we arrived so it could be cleared by customs. We were lucky as on our arrival at the airport our equipment and bait was ready for collection. Our next stop was a tackle shop where we bought Tiger Nuts and Hemp seed and after spending 3 wonderful days in Paris we journeyed down to Barbaton around 750km from Paris. Our entire game plan revolved around the Ming boilies, pellets and bait balls, topped up with accurate spodding of tigers (whole and crushed) and hemp. Our PVA bags were a combination of our SA Super Cast Super Feed, Ming pellets, crushed Ming boilies, crushed tigers and hemp, all infused with Ming oil. Half our PVA bags were dipped in the Ming oil and we are 100% sure that the Ming was the number 1 reason we were so successful. The results were as follows: G.P Nel and Cobus van Loggerenberg on peg C12 – 1st, Gilbert Foxcroft and Loutjie Louwies on peg B6 – 3rd place and Hennie du Preez and Andries Maree on peg C19 – 1st place. Hennie and Andries were also crowned as the World Champions in the Individual classification and GP and Loggies overall 3rd. Loutjie and I got overall 8th. This meant that we ended on 5 points while Serbia (2nd) only managed 12 points and France (3rd) with 15 points. As Team we salute you Lee, for all the unconditional help with the preparation of our bait and your incredible service levels. The next F.I.P.S ed World Carp Championships will be in England next year and rumour has it that it will be held at Milton Keynes. We will definitely come and visit the famous Tackle Box and rest assured that we will arrange our bait and other tackle items with you again. Lee, you are the best!!!! Konacno je dosla i ta FAMOZNA JEDINSTVENA DOZVOLA,koju smo toliko zeleli...Za nas sa Dunava mnogo znaci,jer smo do sada od Beograda do Golupca imali tri-cetiri dozvole..Za nas je i ovo veliki pomak :!: E sad sto se tice takmicara,mislim da niti jednom pravom takmicaru nece biti problem da izdvoji 4600din. Mislim da svaki vozac na AUTO TRKAMA mora da ima VOZACKU DOZVOLU,a putevi u nista boljem stanju od voda. Faulova svuda,a na nama da se borimo za stvar koju volimo :!:
